The Book Thief review

“I am haunted by humans”
--- This quotes caught my attention to the movie “THE BOOK THIEF”

The book thief is framed by Death’s contemplation of the worth of humanity, and Death’s inability to reconcile the remarkable cruelty and the remarkable compassion of which human beings are simultaneously capable. Liesel’s life story contains elements of both and by the end of movie; Death appears to be no more capable of judging humanity than at the movie’s outset. Thus Death tells Liesel that it is “haunted” by humans just humans are haunted by Death. Dying could be only fearful of—and at times, amazed by—those who live.
The whole story starts with a young girl named Leisel, forcedly accepted that her brother was now dead but he will remains in her heart forever. I like it when Leisel grabbed the old book from the grave of her brother and kept it as her treasure. The story goes deeper when Leisel’s mother left her with the two old
couples. She thought that her soon to be Mama was a thunderstorm, but her Papa was a gift from heaven. For the first time, I enjoy watching a movie like this because of this girl Leisel and her best friend Rudy. This two young best of friends was probably made me feel jealous. Their relationship works and they gave one another sparks even they have been together just for a couple of days. On the second day Rudy asked Leisel mother if he can bring Liesel at school, imagine it even Liesel see him as stranger he still try to be friends with her , Rudy asked Liesel if he can kiss her and that’s why I’m jealous they’re too cute. The blending between them was awesome.
Liesel’s book was always with her, know something about? Liesel can’t read. She actually punches the face of her bully classmate at school. The character fits her. Liesel ability to cope with her environment was one of my favorite. Liesel really one of a kind, she’s addicted to books. One thing that haunts me with this movie is when her Papa brought her to the underground of their house; it was made as a big dictionary that she can able to write new words that she’s not familiar with. How amazing right? This movie will probably make you cry and laugh. When Max one of the character appeared in the movie, it changes a lot from a mild tone into a crucial one. Max was son of the soldier and communist that saves the life of Liesel Papa. Max was so sick when he first came in the house and he also had a book and Liesel was amazed and curios about this, so she always tried to get it when Max fell asleep. Max stayed in their home for a couple of months, he was forbidden to go outside and Leisel should not let anyone even Rudy know about Max. In this part I felt my tears. Liesel did everything to his brother in heart Max, she was his Weather newscaster because he was never outside, when Christmas was near Leisel bring snow inside the underground. She did everything to make his brother Christmas awesome so that’s when I adore her more. Days have passed and Max decides to paint his book about Hitler and make it whitewashes. He did this for Liesel he wants to draw an entirely new story upon them: a brief retelling of his life, his friendship with Liesel. Liesel has come to the realization that words can cause both violence and comfort and she strives to make them “right” by combating vicious propaganda with writing that emanates from selflessness and love.
The part of the movie I don’t like is when everything seems to be perfect but still changes. At the end of the movie in the middle of the night war was happened. Liesel was on the underground that time she fell asleep writing on the book Max gave her. And on the morning she woke up that everything was ruin. All around her was bricks that were wrecked by the war that night and she was the one who’s lucky to survive. It’s sad when her Papa and Mama died, and even Rudy her best friend died. And he died on her arms, Rudy’s dream kiss by Liesel was given to him but it’s too late. Rudy died and she died inside. And all around her was dead. All her love ones died. It kills me sometimes, how people die.
